Universities should be Forums not Protagonists - @pinker has it right, and Sam Lessin wants to help Harvard Forward. I am supporting him for the Harvard Board of Overseers and it would be great if you would as well. learn more at https://www.samforoverseer.com/

Double standards and inconsistent enforcement are not acceptable. Invoking ‘free speech’ as a defense only when it is convenient is disingenuous. Harvard alums need to get involved and help the university forward, and I am helping Sam Lessin lean in and get on the Harvard Board of Overseers. learn more at https://www.samforoverseer.com/

Hi {harvard friends},

Sam Lessin from the class of 2005 is running a campaign to get on the ballot for the Harvard Board of Overseers. It would be great if you would consider it as well.

Sam, like many alums, is very disappointed with the University leadership’s performance this fall and wants to try to lean in and help. Rather than just giving up on the university (as many have), he wants to try to help & I am supporting him.

His beliefs I think are in line with many alums:

1. As an academic platform Harvard needs clear and consistent rules, which are consistently enforced, this is table stakes and the University is failing at it.

2. Harvard needs to return to its roots as an academic institution vs. continuing down the path to be a political one.

3. In order to fulfill its academic mission, Harvard must be focused on fostering a safe and positive environment for learning and discussion. No protest disrupting classes, no disruptions in Widener. This should be obvious. The fact that it is not is concerning.

4. Harvard’s insulation from the outside world is both a great strength and great weakness, it needs people to help it evolve from ‘within’ because structurally it won't take help from the outside.

If you are up for supporting him you can learn more about him and why he is doing this at [https://samforoverseer.com](https://samforoverseer.com/)

All the best,
